Falling Up

There are only five days of summer left. Five. (At this house, school starts on Monday.) Letting go of summer is like finishing the last bite of cheesecake, like reading the last page of a novel you don’t want to end, like kissing your love goodbye for the last time. But, living in Miami, it’s not exactly a formal goodbye. It’s more of an “until next time.” While the weather remains summer-esque well into December here, the mentality changes. We bid farewell to early Fridays off and constant jaunts to New York, we think twice about wearing white after Labor Day (and then do it anyway). Even harder to wrap our head around though is the idea of transitioning to a fall wardrobe. And for good reason—it’s still 90-something degrees. There won’t be sweaters, leather and jackets for months to come. So how does a South Floridian welcome fall into their wardrobe without melting? With accessories, of course.

I partnered with TJ Maxx and Marshalls to start my metamorphosis into a fall fashionista. And I began with a new bag and shoes. For me, fall will also be covered in a leopard print of some form. For me, it’s the cat’s meow. Here, it’s these leopard kitten heels I scored at Marshalls for $50. And what goes better with a leopard print than red? To give my outfit a fall feel, I tossed on this beautiful red crossbody, which I found at TJ Maxx for $100. My jumpsuit, which can also easily transition to fall was only $50. That’s a complete fall look for only $200. Amazing? Yup, amazing. Did I mention each piece is from a designer? Yup, even more amazing.

Now, I challenge you to make the transition. Post your fall finds from TJ Maxx or Marshalls on Instagram using the Hashtag #ElectricBlogarellaMarshallsTJMaxx and I’ll send the best look a gift card to shop TJ Maxx and Marshalls. The winner will be picked on Friday, August 29. I’ll contact you via Instagram. Just make sure you follow me at @GingerHarris.
