Look Both Ways Before Crossing

My dad introduced me to the Beatles when I was a kid. And hubby and I introduced Milly to them right after she was born. We’re all big fans. So, when I went on the Miami Art Museum bike tour of Wynwood a couple of weekends ago and I spotted this tripped out crosswalk, the first thing I thought of was a modern day Abbey Road. It’s a work commissioned by Miami Biennale and the Knight Foundation by artist Carlos Cruz-Diez and dedicated to the late Tony Goldman, the man who made Wynwood happen. And it’s the first-ever artistic cross walk in Miami. Upon seeing it, I got the idea to shoot kiddo and I re-interpreting the album cover. And that’s exactly what we this past weekend on a brisk Sunday morning. Just down the street, Art Wynwood was showing local artists’ work in a Basel-style tent. And here we…Read More

Four Finds: What to Spend Your Christmas Money On

I love having an uncommon name, but it’s hard to find monogrammed stuff with the letter “G” on it. Thankfully, you can order your initial, no matter how unique, from Delicate Raymond, like this Vintage Monogram Necklace and it’s little friend, the Mini Initial Necklace on a beaded chain. I like to wear both at the same time. After all, my mom does call me Gg. Find both at delicateraymond.com. Love these yummy soaps from myestivo.com. They are vegetable-based and come in scents like citrus and lavender. You can also find the brand in Miami at 1110 Brickell Ave, ste. 806. By far my favorite color of the season: oxblood, seen here in this cool bracelet from Style Ctzn. And last but not least, for my northern friends, check out the Twitten. It’s a mitten for hand-holding, so your fingers won’t get cold while you’re with the one you love. Plus,…Read More

Why I’m a Black Friday Shopper

It’s 4:49 on Black Friday, and I’m leaving the house to see what lurks out there in the land of people who wait in line for TVs and fight over 75 percent off socks. I’ve been doing it for years. And every Thanksgiving when I say, “Have to go home early and go to sleep so I can get up at the crack of dawn and shop,” someone asks, “Why?” And I respond the same as I do every year: Why buy what I need at regular price when I can get it on sale?” a concept I can apply to every store I need to go to in one day. Plus, by the end of that day, I’m almost always finished with all of my holiday shopping. Finished, done, done-zo. Being able to knock that out in one day is a deal in and of itself. Here’s how things…Read More
