Tales from The New Lotus House Fashion Show

{On me: Dress: c/o Ramona LaRue. Belt: Vintage. Necklace: Frankie Miami. Shoes: Zara via Bib + Tuck. On Mills: Dress: c/o Ramona LaRue. Shoes: Target. Bag: Gap. Photographed by me.} Last week, Milly made her fashion show debut. Stylist extraordinaire Elysze Held of StyleOutoftheCity asked us to be a part of the grand opening of the new Lotus House, which included a fashion show featuring the work of designers like Arianne Brown of Ramona LaRue and Filomena Fernandez, who graciously donated their designs to the thrift store to help raise funds for its new location. Lotus House, as you may know is a charity that provides sanctuary and support, education, tools and resources to homeless women and children. It’s a beautiful organization and I encourage you to donate your unwanted items to the charity, as the funds go to these women and children hoping to make their lives a little better. It was an…Read More

Fashion Blogging 101

{Dress: Ramona LaRue Florencia Dress. Shoes: Jimmy Choo. Necklace: Vintage. Cuff: H&M.} It’s NYFW. My Instagram is overflowing with runway pics. My Facebook page is packed with designer updates. It’s a crazy thing—especially since I’m not front row and just watching from my social media platforms (read: jealous much?). I’ve worked in fashion for more than a decade. The past almost two years of which have been as a fashion blogger. And I’ve loved every amazing opportunity it’s gifted me. So when Miami Fashion Film Festival asked me to talk about Fashion Blogging 101 alongside the awesome Nikki Novo, my DailyCandy editor partner in crime, I jumped at the chance. On Thursday, September 12 from 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m., I’ll be talking about how fashion blogging changed my life and could possibly change yours. I’ll spill all my secrets on how to get a blog up and running, dish on haute blog…Read More

Sittin’ on Top of the World

{Dress: c/o Ramona LaRue. Shoes: c/o Mia Shoes. Arm Party: Lola James Jewelry. Necklace: c/o Birks Muse Collection} A couple of week ago I filmed a swimsuit segment for NBC 6. It just happens to air today at 11:30 a.m. I’ll be sure to post it this week, in case you are stuck at your 9-to-5. We filmed at at Sense Beach House‘s most adorable rooftop which overlooks the heart of South Beach, making it the perfect setting to talk about swim trends for the summer. I decided on a bold pop of a dress from Ramona LaRue for myself and decked my models out in some of my favorite styles for plopping into the pool. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at how it all went down. Telling it like it is. Big thanks to Matt for being super awesome and filming all our antics. That’s a wrap. Lounging poolside with my fem…Read More

Live From the Today Show in Miami

When the Today show called last Friday to ask me to do a segment on my version of Miami style, I jumped for joy. What an amazing opportunity to let the world know about the talent we have here in Miami. So, I set out to dress my models in Miami-designed brands. Using some of my favorites, I put two looks together, as well as one for myself. Here is the video from this morning’s segment featuring how we do it in Miami when it comes to getting dressed up. Such an awesome experience. In case you’re wonder where to find what me, Marcella and her daughter Siena are wearing, here’s the breakdown: On Marcella: Ramona LaRue Tara dress, Espiritutara bracelets and necklaces, Amorium Jewelry ring, Vintage Reign crossbody bag, Mia Shoes wedges. On her daughter: Matching dress from Ramona LaRue and bracelets worn as anklets from Espiritutara. On me:…Read More

Electric Blogarella Bella Cinthia Santos

{Meet Cinthia.} I met Cinthia the first time I visited Ramona LaRue’s offices. She was decked out in head-to-toe black and looked chic and rocker-ish at the same time. The next time I spotted her at the Chloe show at Soho House during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim. She was wearing a floral Ramona LaRue maxi dress that was just beautiful. Here she is at the fall preview at Ramona LaRue’s office a couple of weeks back. She managed to take a boho chic dress and give it punk edge. I love her ability to blend styles. And that’s why she is this week’s Electric Blogarella Bella. Name: Cinthia Santos Claim to Fame: Assistant Designer and Textile Designer for Ramona LaRue and freelance graphic designer/artist. Wearing: Ramona LaRue maxi dress, Betsey Johnson necklace, Michael Kors watch and my favorite vest from eBay. Sum up your style: Yikes. I would say artsy…Read More

Four Finds at RaMona LaRue

This week, I was invited to glimpse RaMona LaRue by Arianne‘s fall collection in her showroom, parked just above Isa Boutique in Midtown. The local designer’s boho chic offerings work for Miami girls trying to pull off fall ensembles when it’s anything but fall out. (Fact: It was 92 yesterday. Those boots I bought recently are just never going to happen, are they?) While I was there, I spotted these Four Finds, which include a peek at her holiday and resort collections due out later this year. I also got a quick look at spring 2013, and let me just tell you, leopard spots are here to stay. Hip, hip, hooray. {Jumpsuit from the fall collection. The print is actually elephant skin up close and personal.} {These are the pants I’ve been obsessing over since June, also from the fall collection and now part of my collection as soon as…Read More

Keeping it Local with RaMona LaRue

{RaMona LaRue romper, Fly Boutique vintage necklace, Aldo bracelet, Jimmy Choo shoes.} I was recently invited to check out RaMona LaRue’s studio, a space located just above Isa Boutique in Midtown. Inside, racks upon racks of hand-painted silk designs bring the space to life. It’s a skill designer Arianne learned from her mother, Ramona, for whom the line is named. After losing her mom to cancer, Arianne created the line as an homage to this most influential person in her life. And RaMona LaRue was born.  {Orange, a prominent color in the current collection.} A true artist in every sense of the word, Arianne takes patterns, most of which are animal-print inspired, paints them onto her fabrics and then turns them into stunning boho-chic apparel. Her long, flowing dresses and kaftans are inspiring and ideal for Miami’s dreaded summer heat. And nearly all of her pieces transition from beachwear to…Read More
