Sittin’ on Top of the World

{Dress: c/o Ramona LaRue. Shoes: c/o Mia Shoes. Arm Party: Lola James Jewelry. Necklace: c/o Birks Muse Collection} A couple of week ago I filmed a swimsuit segment for NBC 6. It just happens to air today at 11:30 a.m. I’ll be sure to post it this week, in case you are stuck at your 9-to-5. We filmed at at Sense Beach House‘s most adorable rooftop which overlooks the heart of South Beach, making it the perfect setting to talk about swim trends for the summer. I decided on a bold pop of a dress from Ramona LaRue for myself and decked my models out in some of my favorite styles for plopping into the pool. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at how it all went down. Telling it like it is. Big thanks to Matt for being super awesome and filming all our antics. That’s a wrap. Lounging poolside with my fem…Read More

Brand New Bag

{Bag: c/o Hayden-Harnett Pieced Out Dome Satchel. Shoes: c/o Mia Limited Edition Vixen. Dress: Vintage slip. Bracelet: Vintage.} Fact: I will never be one of those girls who can just up and leave the house with a bag the size of a coin purse. Why? Because in addition to normal stuff, like a phone, Altoids and 14 extra lip glosses, I’ve got weird carry-on items like Disney princess dominos, fabric swatches from my curtains and couch, a tape measure, a Tide stick, paper tape, my camera and a teddy bear named Pinky. (Don’t ask.) I need something that’s got space. And lots of it. Case in point, my Hayden-Harnett Pieced Out Dome Satchel. Not only is it buttery soft (and such a pretty shade of fuchsia), it fits the sun, moon, stars and a small pink bear. And it matches my Mia Shoes to a T. That whole thing about your…Read More

High Five

{On Me: Dress: c/o United Colors of Benetton. Jacket: c/o United Colors of Benetton. Belt: Alexis. Shoes: c/o MIA Shoes. Necklace: Vintage. Sunnies: Target. On my 5-year-old Mexican jumping bean: Dress: Marshall’s. Shoes: Target. Sunnies: Target.} It’s official, as of today, I have a 5 year old. Yup, five years ago,  just four days after my 30th birthday, I got the best belated present ever: Milly. I still don’t know how she got to be as big as she is. But I do know I’m blessed to have her in my life. I hope this birthday is her best one yet. Happy birthday, kiddo.

Live From the Today Show in Miami

When the Today show called last Friday to ask me to do a segment on my version of Miami style, I jumped for joy. What an amazing opportunity to let the world know about the talent we have here in Miami. So, I set out to dress my models in Miami-designed brands. Using some of my favorites, I put two looks together, as well as one for myself. Here is the video from this morning’s segment featuring how we do it in Miami when it comes to getting dressed up. Such an awesome experience. In case you’re wonder where to find what me, Marcella and her daughter Siena are wearing, here’s the breakdown: On Marcella: Ramona LaRue Tara dress, Espiritutara bracelets and necklaces, Amorium Jewelry ring, Vintage Reign crossbody bag, Mia Shoes wedges. On her daughter: Matching dress from Ramona LaRue and bracelets worn as anklets from Espiritutara. On me:…Read More

I Heart That: Win a Lola James Love Necklace

Hopeless romantic? Nah, not me. I can’t stand chick flicks. I don’t read chick lit. But I do believe in love. The kind that lasts forever. I guess that’s because I found mine already. But it’s hardly a fairytale. Well, maybe a modern-day one. It goes a little something like this: David and I met in college at a paper we worked at together. He insulted me the first time I ever talked to him. I threw something at him. He’d ask me out every now and then. I’d always say no. One night, almost a year later, I kissed him on the back porch of our office. Later that night, I called and threatened to break his legs if he told anyone. Fast forward 12 years, we’re married with a kiddo. True love? You bet. Actually, he’s my best friend. And I don’t know what I’d do without him….Read More

Your Friday Night Plans: MIA Shoes Swim Week Kick-Off Party

This coming Friday just happens to be Friday the 13th. Unlucky? Nope, it’s actually gonna be a good day. MIA shoes is hosting a Swim Week kick-off soiree at Kyma at the Epic Hotel with a complimentary vodka cocktail hour from 9 to 10 and giveaways for gift cards. I’ll be there along with fellow sista bloggers Kelly Saks, Ria Michelle and Annie Vazquez. Be sure to wear some kick-ass heels. It is, after all, a shoe party. And you can always use those spikes as weapons, just in case any hockey mask-wearing psychos are on the loose. I kid. I kid. {See ‘ya there: Kyma Lounge at the Epic Hotel, 270 Biscayne Boulevard Way in Miami.}

A Pop of Fuchsia

{MIA Shoes Limited Edition Vixen shoes (c/o MIA Shoes), Alexis top, Wet Seal shorts and vintage bangle.} Normally, I’m a red shoe kind of girl. There’s just something about rouge heels that screams classic. But these new fuchsia kicks are a modern replacement. In keeping with my local designer love affair, these shoes, called the Vixen, are made by Miami-based co MIA Shoes. And they give red pumps a run for their money. Check out the leopard-print soles. {As for makeup, I’m wearing Estee Lauder Double Wear Mascara in Black, NYC IndividualEyes Shadows in Smokey Greens, Bare Minerals All-Over Face Color in Glee, Brilliance New York Lipstick in True Love, Chanel Glossimer in 327 Sirocco and Estee Lauder Pure Color Nail Polish in Hot Coral. Whew, that’s a lot of stuff.} Keep Miami fashionable by supporting local business and check out MIA Shoes’ reward’s program online and on Facebook, where…Read More
