Neoprene and Netflix

{Wearing: “Vogue” Muscle Tee: c/o Kore. Neoprene Skirt: c/o Kore. Bag: Rebecca Minkoff. Necklace: T.J. Maxx Shoes: c/o Ecco.  Photographed by me.} Between blogging, being a mom and all that jazz, I’ve managed to binge watch yet another series. This time: Homeland. Normally, if you told me it was a show about terrorist attacks and the CIA, I would say pass, but the way things go with series lately, I’m all about watching things that don’t fit into my box. And I’m so glad I was able to think outside of that box because it was good, so good, I managed to get through four seasons in less than two months. I’ll just say this: Claire Danes is an amazing actress. Nobody, and I mean nobody, does crazy like Carrie. And trying to wrap my head around how Inigo Montoya has morphed from Spanish avenger to grandpa-esque badass kept me…Read More

Free Things Thanks to Neiman Marcus and Estee Lauder

They say nothing in life is free. Not true. Not true at all. And I’m not talking about curb alerts on Craigslist either. In fact, I’ve found something that’s not only free, it’s fabulous. Now through January 25, Neiman Marcus nationwide is hosting its Up Close in-store event with Estee Lauder. The free in this find just happens to be a mod-inspired tote created by designer Lisa Perry. But it doesn’t’ stop there. Inside, find $225 worth of awesome freebies, like In the color department: Pure Color EyeShadows: Looking for shadows that go on creamy and stay put throughout your night out? Consider them found. Pure Color Lip Shades: Who doesn’t love new lipstick? Try these mix and match shades and prepare to fall in deep. Sumptuous Extreme Mascara: Estee Lauder makes my absolute favorite mascara. And this is a must for mascara junkies like myself. It goes on, stays…Read More

Resolve This …

{Wearing: Crop Top: Shopblush.com. Grey Leopard Skirt: c/o shopblush.com. Bag: DVF c/o T.J. Maxx. Booties: Valentino. Photographed by Milly Jane Harris.} I’m not one for making resolutions. I mean, hey, if I did, I’d be beating myself up about the workouts I’ve skipped since January started, chastising myself for my Mexican Coke addiction and weighing myself down for not getting enough shut eye so I could dance the night away. I’m human. I’m pretty sure I’m supposed to err. At least that’s how the saying goes. And while I’m not beating myself up for tripping along the way, here’s what I decided to turn my back on in the new year. If I never hear the songs “Waves,” “All About That Bass,” “Happy” or anything by Lorde again, I’m good. I’m turning my back on catchy, overplayed music DJs need to just let go of already. So long, expectations. My mom…Read More

Remix: The Art of an AfterParty

{My favorite vintage party dress, may it rest in peace. It put up a good fight dancing the night away at Maria Tettamanti’s wedding and then it gracefully bowed out of rotation.} Fact: If it has a dress-up angle, I’m all in. And now that 2015 is in full swing, I have the first dress-up party of the year to add to the agenda. Perez Art Museum Miami’s (PAMM) annual gala, Art of the Party, is coming up on January 17, 2015 and I’m hosting the after party, cooly dubbed Remix. Use my discount code and get $150 0ff the ticket price. Then, you can join me for a night of dressing up, dining on desserts, drinking libations and dancing. With Louis Vuitton presenting the event, you know it’s going to be a fashionable affair. And i’m itching to get dolled up in this Alexis dress I’ve had waiting in…Read More

She’s Out There

{Wearing: Dress: Tricia Fix. Jean Jacket: 7 for all Mankind. Booties: Bib + Tuck. Necklace: Fly Boutique vintage. Photographed by Milly Jane Harris.} Two days ago I went to my dear friend Erin’s wedding. It was her second wedding. We just happened to get divorced around the same time, which made me feel like I had someone I could talk to who truly understood where I was coming from. Everything about her wedding was perfect in a way a first wedding could never be. The pretensions, the stuffy, the everything-has-to-be-Cinderella perfect didn’t exist. It was just two people standing up before all of their friends vowing to love one another. Through those vows Erin told a story that hit home base for me. She said, “If you would have asked me a year ago if I believed in true love, I would have said no.” She went on to say…Read More

The December Beauty Board: Beauty for the Last Night of the Year

With New Year’s Eve just days away, I hit up Neiman Marcus’ Beauty department and a new mascara brand to shop ideas for an epic night out. Here’s what I’ll be wearing when the ball drops. Kiss Kiss The last night of this month may very well be the most important lip-centric day of the year. My biggest challenge with this Napoleon Perdis Limited Edition Megamiz Lip Gloss Collection is deciding which color my midnight kiss will be. Find the set with 10 shades at Neiman Marcus.    The Eyes Have It Playing with eye makeup is one of my guilty pleasures. I’ll be glamming it up for NYE with this amazing Younique Mascara. It turns regular lashes into mega lashes with 3D-like effects. More on this coming later next week on the blog, so stay tuned. Until then, get the scoop here. I plan to highlight my uber lashes…Read More

Be Dazzling: What I’m Wearing and Not Wearing for NYE

{Wearing: Dress: BCBG Max Azria c/o Sawgrass Mills. Be Dazzling Clutch: Kate Spade c/o Sawgrass Mills. Shoes: Schutz from Neiman Marcus Last Call c/o Sawgrass Mills. Photographed by Milly Jane Harris.} And now for the all-important question: What are you wearing for NYE? I know, I know. Christmas hasn’t even happened yet and I’m already asking about the next big shindig. But the fact is, this may be the most important thing you wear all year. It’s the outfit that ends one year and takes you into the next. Hi, no pressure. Some years back, I decided that sequins were off the table when it came to watching the ball drop. (I think it was because I wound up at a party and I, along with every other girl in a 19 mile radius, looked like we had been separated at birth). The last thing I wanted for myself on the start…Read More

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas …

Around here, I try to keep the holidays in perspective. As kid winds down the aisles of stores and laundry lists all the things she “needs” or scans the pages of Amazon, making journal-sized lists of all the things she “wants” for the holidays, I put on my mom voice (it’s a cross between Charlie Brown teacher and something my mom used to throw out there) and remind her that it’s not about what we get, it’s about letting people know we appreciate them. As luck would have it, T.J. Maxx, Marshalls and Homegoods reached out and asked me to be a part of its latest blogger challenge. The mission (as I chose to accept it): To gift a few people who need some holiday cheer. With that on our frontal lobes, kiddo and I headed off into the great holiday shopping zone to pick out presents that let those…Read More

Everything’s Coming Up Roses

About a year ago, I made a conscious decision to stop waiting for someone to buy me flowers and just buy them for myself. And then, I made it a weekly ritual to bring something beautiful into my home. I’d hop on my bike, head to a green market, pick something that would fill my home with a bit of beauty and arrange it. And it made my space feel warmer, brighter, sunnier, which in turn brought an extra dose of joy to my life. Why wait for someone else to do that when I can do it for myself? While the whole putting-it-together aspect fulfilled some weird internal Martha Stewart craving I have, I must admit there’s something that much sweeter about having the whole package put together for you. Enter Kalla. I first caught a glimpse of the custom online flower service’s beyond cute arrangements when the brand…Read More
