Happy Pumpkin Pie Day

{Wearing: Dress: Blush. Necklace: Vintage. Platform Wedges: Aldo. On Kid: Dress: Target. Moto Boots: Gap Kids.} Normally, on Thanksgiving, I launch into some rant about how it’s my least favorite holiday, or go on a tirade about how shopping on Thursday instead of Black Friday is morally wrong because it takes employees away from their family time. Basic “Ginger on her soapbox” regalia. But not today. Today, I’m just grateful for kid. There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for her. And I mean that. In fact, today, I did things that shocked even myself for her. What? The specifics don’t matter. But she does. And that’s what it’s all about, finding that person in life that you would do anything, and I mean anything, for. They take up such space in your heart that you find yourself stepping so far outside of your comfort zone that it amazes even you. And…Read More

The Center of It All

{Wearing: Bustier: Vintage. Skirt: Style Mafia. Necklace: Rebel. Booties: Saint Laurent. Photographed by me.} It’s heeerrrreeeeee. OK, it’s not officially here yet, but it may as well be. I’m talking about Basel. That week that Miami becomes the center of the art world. The week where art, fashion, parties and sleeplessness collide. The week where I don all black, gawk at art, race around town like a pinball, file more stories than one can fathom morning after morning after night after night of zero sleep. Yup, Basel. And it will be here in less than a week. Are you ready? No, no one ever is. How can you be? Thankfully, things have improved—like we now have Uber (which means I won’t have to relive the year I rode in the trunk of a Range Rover curled up like a piece of oragami (hey, you didn’t turn down a free ride…Read More

The November Beauty Board

It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year What do I most love about fall? Is it the changing leaves? The cooler temps? In Miami, no. None of that exists. What I most love about fall in Miami is the arrival of pumpkin-flavored things. To help me fake fall, I’m turning to these Nest products for around the abode. The Nest Pumpkin Chai Liquid Soap makes it a changing of seasons every time you wash your hands. And the Nest Pumpkin Chai Candle makes it smell like the holidays every time it burns. Speaking of smells and things that make me happy, this Modern Muse scent from Estee Lauder is a good fragrance, thanks to a blend of woods and florals, to wear when gearing up for the holidays. Pair it with my beautiful rose gold Messika bracelet (I adore how dainty it is)  and it really is the most wonderful…Read More

And Now in Miami Fashion News … Santika

{Wearing: Santika. Photographed by Erin Newberg} I recently got the opportunity to meet celebrity stylist Danny Santiago in his stunning Miami home and experience his latest project: his own clothing line alongside his friend and jewelry designer Erika Pena. Its name: Santika (a hybrid of Santiago and Erika). Its look and feel: ‘70s resort with a flair for glam. Think ornate caftans, short rompers, knit bikinis, crocheted vests, stunning dresses and more. The color scheme includes flowing whites, vibrant purples, sky blues and burnt oranges. While the designs were initially meant to be worn over swimwear to and from the beach, the flowing fabrics, bright colors and stellar shapes easily make them pieces that Miami girls, like myself, will simply dub clothes, not coverups. I immediately fell in love with the collection, which will be available this month, both online at santikadesign.com, as well as at The Fontainebleau. It’s no surprise I have a thing for…Read More

Three is a Magic Number

{Wearing: Knit Dress: c/o Kore Boutique. Floppy Hat: c/o Kore Boutique. Booties: c/o Ecco. Photographed by me.} One thousand and ninety-five. Think of it in terms of days. Now think of it in terms of blank WordPress pages. Each week, I come to this back end of my site and I unload whatever thoughts, feelings, emotions I have pent up inside of me. And today, as Electric Blogarella turns three, I come again to a blank page. A page where I’m supposed to take three years and sum them up. It is not, by any means, an easy task. But it’s one that I do because it gives me purpose. I have come to these pages time and time again with my joys, my sorrows and I have put my life into words. I know it’s supposed to be a “fashion blog,” but, for me, it’s a diary, a documentation…Read More

Dear Sun, I Hate You (Not a Love Story)

{Wearing: Top: Blush. Bikini Top: Mi Ola. Harem Pants: From the motherland of harem pants, Ibiza. Braids: Blo Midtown. Photographed by my awesome mama Beth Culbreth.} Here I am jumping on the bed. Why? Because, thanks to you, time change, that’s basically all beds are good for these days. Today, we’re talking about Daylight Savings Time and how IT SUCKS. While the rest of Miami’s bloggers are throwing on coats and boots and hats and scarves and talking about the chill in the air, I’m going to tackle the other topic plaguing the norm. (It’ also a relevant excuse to post these yoga pics mom took on my recent trip home.) Let me set the scene: It’s 5;45 p.m. on Monday. The sun is starting to run for cover. Soon, darkness will fall. And my brain will perceive 6 p.m. as 10 p.m. Shortly after, internal clock chaos will ensue. As…Read More

The Big 2014 Halloween Reveal

We’ve been scarecrows, the cast of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and characters from Cat and the Hat. So this year, when it came time to plan the annual Harris Halloween costume, Mills and I decided to be something fitting—wild indians. Trust me, if anyone lives up to the name, it’s us. We were actually inspired by our collection of Flash Tattoos and a friend who showed me the beautiful headdress he was going to wear. I immediately knew if I put together a native-themed outfit bits and pieces would get a second use at Coachella. A load of fringe, suede, beads and feathers, hand sewing and glue-gunning later, tada, We made the transition and I gave myself a Martha Stewart-sized pat on the back. What I couldn’t do, I left to the professionals. I bought my headdress at a local costume shop. Blo Midtown awesomely braided our hair, Leslie…Read More

What to Wear on a Date

{Wearing: Date Night Dress: c/o Marshalls. Shoes: Aldo. Bag: The Find Auctions. Necklace: Isa Boutique. Photographed by me.} So, I’m dating. In Miami. Which is a whole book in and of itself. Let’s just say it’s interesting and leave it at that. I mean, I never in my wildest dreams thought that at 36 I’d be dating. But I am. In fact, the last time I dated, I was in my early 20s. It was a pre-social media, early era of cell phones kind of world. All of that technology has impacted—good or bad—the dating world. Today, you can log on to the Web, search someone’s name, see which friends you have in common, call said friend, ask where in the “cool or a creeper realm” the person falls and then set the ball into motion or put the breaks on with a screeching, grinding halt. Back in the dark…Read More

Confidence 101

{Wearing: Designer Dress: c/o Marshalls. Bag: c/o Marshalls. Leopard Heels: Guess. Photographed by the always entertaining Erin Newberg.} Here’s the awesome thing about working from home: I can stay in my PJs all the live long day, if I so choose. And I make that choice more than I’m willing to admit. Here’s the not so awesome thing: On those occasions when I need to take a meeting or go to an interview, I have to find something to wear. And sometimes (OK, most of the time) trying to peg the perfect outfit results in a trashed bedroom, a mad panic and a constant questioning of “Does this look OK,” because, let’s face it, how you dress has a large impact on your mood. In fact, a great pair of shoes, a new dress, even a fab bag can give you a boost of confidence. Out of 1,000 women surveyed…Read More
