This is the true story, of five fashion bloggers, picked to live in a penthouse during Swim Week to find out what happens when girls stop being polite and start getting real. The Real World: Sagamore Slumber Party.

This episode’s cast consisted of myself, Erika Thomas of Blah Blah Blonde, Daniela Ramirez of Nany’s Klozet, Kelly Saks of Kelly’s Kloset and Maria Tettamanti of The Wordy Girl. Just as The Real World of old like to typecast its roomies, I guess ours would go a little something like this:

The funny one: Maria

The hot blonde one: Erika

The famous one: Nany

The perfect one: Kelly

And Me

It was a whole mash-up of personalities. But unlike the Real Housewives of New York, no one tried to wrestle (verbally or otherwise) the other for a room. In fact, everyone got along like peas and carrots, and the posh pad we were put up in had more than enough space for all of us: A king bed, a queen bed and two twins. I opted to room with Kelly, which was the best decision I have maybe ever made. Having a pageant girl as a roommate means you’ve just settled for sharing your space with someone who has a solution for every fashion or beauty problem you could ever dream of. Boob tape: Consider yourself stuck. Undergarment sitch: Lifted and separated. Flyaway hairs: Flattened. If Kelly were a Barbie she would comes with a train case of hair and beauty products. Plus, she’s a sweet and nice as she is pretty.

Speaking of train cases full of hair and beauty products—that’s exactly what a blogger needs to face Swim Week. Our penthouse suite came complete with gift bags stocked with everything a girl could need to brave the weekend: Smith & Cult polish, Supergoop! sunscreen, even face masks we all wore Sunday morning to ward off the weekend’s dehydrating effects. There was even a shower stocked with Molton Brown products. Between the goodie bag and the team from Rik Rak to tackle my mane, it was pampering at its finest.

Afterward, it was go time. Before hitting the swim shows and presentations, I snapped a couple of shots in the lobby. Dubbed “The Art Hotel,” the lobby is stocked with art, making it not only a beautiful beach-front hotel in the heart of South Beach, but a gallery, as well. Featuring the Cricket Taplin Collection of contemporary art, nearly every wall, every corner, every nook is a beautiful backdrop to a photo. What more could a blogger ask for?

After Mara Hoffman (where, thank God for that Oribe Anit-Humidity hairspray), the girls and I headed back to the hotel for the best part of any slumber party: blogger bonding. In lieu of pillow fights and hair braiding (no one really does that btw), we watched TV, laughed, gossiped and laughed some more. And then we called it a night. The next morning, I woke up long before the rest of the house (the side effect of having a little one) and took in the beautiful view. The sun rising over the serene pool, the ocean sparkling in the distance. It was a beautiful sight and I was blessed enough to take it in at a bird’s eye view. The good life. How thankful am I that I got to experience it? So very grateful.

As the rest of the party started to stir from their slumber, we reconvened in the penthouse, sipping champagne for breakfast and picking up where we left off the night before. So what happens when bloggers stop being polite and start being real? Good times. And lots of them. In fact, we had so much fun, we can’t wait to do it again. The Real World Slumber Party Reunion, we’re ready for you.
