Bullseye …

In the event you haven’t heard me screaming from the rooftops this past week, I did an event with Target. And in the event you didn’t drive to Dadeland last Thursday (which, for those of us who live on the beach, is basically like visiting a far away land), to watch Ready, Set, Target Style, it went a little something like this …

Why, is that Marie Claire Fashion Editor Zanna Rossi? Indeed it is, along with my latest obsession Courtney Kornegay.

Not only did Zanna help emcee the soiree, she was also a judge, along with our own Daniela RamirezVashtie Kola and Rodner Figueroa.

That’s me, making my big intro … in Nany’s braids from Fashion Week as a suck-up tactic.

The objective: Using a classic white button-up, dress our muses for a first date at a Wynwood gallery and do it in three minutes or less. Yikes! I can spend three minutes alone trying to match my undergarments to my outfit. The heat was, without a doubt, on.

I outfitted Erin in a Wynwood-esque look, complete with flats and got lambasted by Rodner Figueroa for it, too. I’m still sticking by my guns, though. The beach is for Choos. Wynwood is the land of Chuck Taylors. Period.

Needless to say I didn’t win the first challenge, but when it came to the second one, Angeles and I knocked it out of the park. The inspiration: her retro sunnies, which propelled us to put together a Peggy Guggenheim-inspired look. Turns out, it was a hit with even the hyper critical Rodner Figueroa.

Werk.

That’s my “Hey, I just won” face.

And then it was time for the final showdown. Maria, who won the first round vs. me, the winner of the second round. And the winner was …

Not me. Haha. Congrats to Maria and Martha though. They did a great job. Maybe I didn’t take home the title of overall winner, but I did take the second round and I had a blast doing it. In fact, I demand a rematch! This was one of the most fun events I’ve ever done and the fact that I got to do it alongside some of my favorite people, well, icing on the cake. In the big book of my life adventures, this is without a doubt a standout moment. I got to style two of my dear friends on stage at Target. And the editor of Marie Claire liked me look. Even though I didn’t win, I still won. We all did.

Thanks to everyone who came out!
