On Sunday, kiddo and I made our annual trek to the pumpkin patch for that one orange gourd that we’ll carve into a toothy jack-o-lantern. Kiddo is the ultimate pumpkin picker. “Too round. Too bumpy. Too tall,” she says. But eventually we find the right one. And it’s perfect. A round little guy with all the carving potential in the world. Next week, before All Hallow’s Eve, we’ll dive right in, rip out its guts, put the pumpkin seeds aside for baking and turn this squash into a spooky candle holder. But before all of that, our adventure as cats and bats in the pumpkin patch went a little something like this.
