Now that this Miami fashion blogger found some down time, I’ve had time to process the bikini barrage that took over Miami Beach for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim. Here’s a look at some of my favorite trends from the shows this year:
Red lit up the runway this swim shows. As my favorite shade, I was thrilled to see a smattering of it at nearly every show, like Poko Pano featured above. The shoes at Poko Pano were the ultimate bonus.
Suspenders were spotted at more than a few shows. I don’t know what it is about the trend, (maybe it’s the throwback ’80s vibe, maybe it’s the menswear aspect), but I dig it. Here’s a look from Beach Bunny in my favorite classic color combo.
When it comes to bikinis, structure isn’t the first thing that comes to mind, but Suboo pulled it off in spades. And as a self-professed structure junkie, I couldn’t get enough of the looks that went down the runway. Adding orange to the mix was a supreme bonus.
Black and white at the beach is another trend I couldn’t get enough of. Here’s its executed to perfection at Chloe.
Just when I thought I had my fill of fringe, L Space by Monica Wise sent this fringe skirt down the runway and I actually swooned. It’s simple yet flapper chic.
And last but not least, the high-waisted bikini is still going strong. I love the vintage-inspired look, but 6 Shore Road managed to give it the most modern day twist with banded sides in rainbow hues.
