Friday night is date night at my house. Kiddo and I spend it one of two ways: We either crawl into my bed and gorge ourselves on what we like call “carb fiesta” and then turn on a Netflix classic, or we get dolled up and hit Lincoln Road for a dinner and a stroll or a movie (depending on what’s playing in the kid realm). Milly always has some sparkling dinner conversation to share, mostly about iPad games, the latest toy craze or a new book she found at the library at school. Although, now she’s decided she has a boyfriend and that gives me the ultimate urge to lock her in a closet until she’s 30. I listen, sometimes telling her about things from my own childhood that hopefully has a Netflix tie-in so we can watch it later during the weekend. This is how the Jem obsession started. She’s the best date ever, though she hates sharing her dessert, but then again, who doesn’t? Here were are all boho-ed out for a late-night dinner on Lincoln. We shared quesadillas, a cheese plate and pink lemonade. The cupcake, however, she had all to herself. But she’s my little cupcake and she’s sweet enough.
