Walls, Falls and New Kicks

{Vest: Mossimo. Jeans: Zara. Ruby crochet shoes: c/o Painted Bird. Necklace: Vintage.}

It finally started to cool down in Miami, which means I’ve hauled out the jeans. And I paired them with these adorable Painted Bird crochet flats from my October mood board. I couldn’t wait to wear them again for the blog. While I was editing these pics, I realized, however, that I was sitting on a wall. Kiddo has been studying nursery rhymes at school. One of the ones on repeat is Humpty Dumpty. I know you know how it goes: He also sat on a wall. He had a great fall. All the king’s horses and all the king’s men couldn’t put him back together again. Do you know why? Because if I’ve learned anything in 2013, it’s that you can’t rely on other people to put you back together again. You have to do it yourself. It’s an exploration in the best kind of DIY—self-improvement. Between throwing myself back into yoga and finding my love of writing all over again, I’ve surrounded myself with just a few of the things that make me a happy camper. And a cute pair of shoes certainly does its part in lifting your spirits, too. If only poor Humpty knew.
