It was Julieta’s bold skirt that first caught my attention at the Touch Boutique Style Challenge. The fact that she paired it with a tee and a belt was also eye-catching. And her jewelry, well, the fact that she is a jewelry designer explains it. This Argentine has a knack for dressing, but I’ll let this week’s Electric Blogarella Bella tell you all about it herself.
Name: Julieta Alvarez
Claim to Fame: Accessories designer. My new web page (alvarezramos.com) is currently under construction, but you can see some of my work at julietaalvarez.etsy.com or visit my Facebook page for Alvarez Ramos.
Wearing: My favorite Andy Warhol T-shirt (purchased at Ebay), vintage snakeskin belt, Prada bag, silk skirt, gold H&M necklace and black necklace with with red flower from my own designs. It is one of the first necklaces I made a very long time ago. The bracelets are also designed and made by me.
Sum up your style: Very moody and eclectic. I could describe my style as a mix between Mick Jagger, Iris Apfel and any 1920’s French girls (Chanel, maybe?). I like to mix different pieces of my favorites styles and always add a touch of something contrasting and unexpected. Street styles in cities like N.Y. or Paris (and obviously “mi Buenos Aires querido”) are always a great source of inspiration. I also love layering (very hard to do it with Miami’s weather), but if I can’t do it with clothes, there’s always a bunch of necklaces and bracelets in my bag.
Most treasured item in your closet: One of my favorite pieces is a vintage Hermes scarf. I got it 12 years ago (it was already very old when I bought it). It is so versatile. It’s the first item I put in my bag every time I travel.
Secret shopping go-to spot: I just discovered farfetch.com. It unites a bunch of really cool boutiques all over U.S.A. and Europe in one website. Everything on that page is beautiful (and expensive, unfortunately), but you can also find great deals in its sale section (I already have my eye on a Dries van Noten T-shirt).
Beauty tip: I drink a lot of green tea every day, because I love it and because I’m aware of all the benefits it offers.
When you were a kid you wanted to be: A veterinarian, then psychologist (but dropped for ever that last idea right after my first psychology class in high school).
Never leave home without your: iPhone.
At the top of your fashion wish list is: Every single Givenchy collection designed by Riccardo Tisci, including bags and shoes. (A girl can dream, right?)
Currently addicted to: Pinterest.
Last song you listened to: Concierto de Aranjuez “Adagio” by Paco de Lucia. I can listen to this concert over and over again, especially when I’m working.
