This Retro Bathing Suit Means One Thing: It’s Swim Week in Miami

{Wearing: Bathing Suit: Hampton’s One Piece c/o Modcloth. Sunnies and Wedges: c/o T.J. Maxx. Headband: Vintage Lanvin. Photographed by Jorge Camaraza.} It’s heeeeeeerrrrrrrreeeeee. Swim Week is upon us. For the rest of the week, we’ll all be gawking at models in Lycra as sweat finds creative places to pool—a yearly tradition we Miamians are well versed in. Another is watching out-of-towners melt in our 1,000 percent humidity. Welcome to Miami. Seek AC wherever you can. But it’s all in good fun. In reality, we’re lucky to host the official week of swimwear in our city. I mean, it’s the one place that wears swimwear longer than any other city in the U.S. This should be the home of Swim Week. Last year, I got to walk in one of the kick off shows. And it was awesome. This year, however, I’m helping Krelwear host a kick off to the week…Read More

It’s Miami Spa Month: First Stop: Aqualina Spa by ESPA

{Miami Spa Month, courtesy of Aqualina Spa by ESPA.} Ah, robe life. Come summer in Miami, it’s a necessity. Like air drinking water and spending all your time in the a.c. Living in a city that, during the entire summer, fluctuates between blowing hair dryer hot humidity at you and dumping endless showers on you, you need something to help see you through. I mean aside from frose. That’s where Miami Spa Month comes in. From July 1-August 31, the best spas around town offer up deals that offer a refuge from Miami’s summer elements. I started off Miami spa month off at Aqualina Spa by ESPA. I’m a full-on fiend for ESPA products. I swear by their oils, using them nearly nightly.  A Swedish massage with only ESPA products, well, that’s next level. And that’s exactly what happened at Aqualina. I started off with a pot of tea. Then,…Read More

Colorado Here We Come: Back To Where It All Began

{Wearing: Bodysuit & Skirt: c/o Ramona LaRue. Necklace: c/o T.J. Maxx. Photographed by Jorge Camaraza} Here’s the amazing, yet peculiar thing about Colorado in spring: There are snow-covered mountains, ripe for swooshing down on boards and skis, but drive just a bit further—up the road even—and the scenery changes instantly. Green fields, blooming florals, warmer temps—it’s almost as if you’ve left one season and landed in the next. We noticed immediately as we crossed from our Hampton By Hilton in Silverthorne into Glenwood Springs. The same Glenwood Springs we’d been to on our first Hampton By Hilton Seekender outing. Back then it was just the two of us on the Indian motorcycle, the sky so blue it was as though a vat of thick robin egg paint had fallen over and spilled sky-wide. The charred orange rocks of the canyon reaching up to the sky, surrounding us, encasing us. Today, we…Read More

The Seekender’s Guide to Miami Beach

{Photographed by Jorge Camaraza}  Summer, the season of travel. A time to go see the world, do something new, scratch something off that bucket list you’ve been carrying around. This summer, while I’m running off to see corners of the world, others will make their way to this little plot of sand I call home. As much as I love helpful hints on where to go and what to see on my journeys, I feel its only fitting for me to do the same of my own city. That being said, welcome to Miami Beach. As a Seekender for Hampton by Hilton, I’ve traveled most of my adventures via motorcycle, seeing Colorado and the Pacific Coast Highway via Indian bike. If you’re on your own Hampton by Hilton Seekender journey, keep in mind Miami Beach is great via bike, too. But this terrain calls for bicycle instead of something with…Read More

Photographed by Milly Jane Harris} Behold! My summer staples. And the best part: they are all available in one spot that will ship them all straight to me. It’s called BlueMercury, and if you aren’t familiar with it just yet, get so sooner than later. When the summer starts to dehydrate my skin, I put the moisture back in with Glamglow Thirstymud Hydrating Treatment, which I wear as a mask during the day once a week. and I wear at night when I’m feeling extremely dried out. Never ever ever go to bed to bed without eye cream. More specifically, M-61 PowerGlow Eye Cream. It wards off the evils of aging and makes you look and feel daisy fresh come morning time. Floral summer scents are a must. Acqua Di…Read More

Extreme Beauty: Laser Facial Part Five

{Wearing: My Home Fashion Boutique Sweater. Hair: c/o Glamsquad with Vanessa Placeres. Makeup: c/o Glamsquad with Celina Beach Artistry. Photographed by Danielle Margherite Photography LLC} What is it about Bahamian ocean water that makes skin so good? Is it the water? The salt in the water? The sand? Whatever it is, after a weekend jaunt to Bimini and a round of Vivid Face laser facials (smooth mixed with an acne-targeting treatment), I’m ready to put my best face forward for summer. My last round of laser facials really did a world of good. Whatever was beneath the surface got stopped right in its tracks, which sent me to Bimini with clear skin. And once those magical ocean waters got on my skin, well, I’ve been roaming around foundation-free ever since. Maybe a little It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream here and there, but that’s about it. As I’ve mentioned before, these facials from Vivid Face are really helping my skin…Read More

Colorado, Here We Come: Let’s Go Spring Skiing

Here’s the thing about Miami come spring. Actually, come the first hint of spring. It’s hot. And it gets hotter out of nowhere. Like today, in June, when its hard to tell the difference between the surface of the sun and Miami. Knowing this, when the opportunity to be a Seekender again for Hampton by Hilton arose, we opted to ditch the bike and bring along the whole crew. The thing about traveling is, it’s selfish to keep it to yourself. What’s beautiful about seeing the world is sharing it with the people you love. So instead of a Seekender adventure for two, ours became an adventure for five. One of which we’re hard-pressed to peg down in photos as he’s in the teenage years and raging against the social media machine. Rare sightings of the elusive Julien will make their way into this tale as its told, so keep…Read More
