An Evening at Miami City Ballet’s The Nutcracker

{The Miami City Ballet‘s The Nutcracker at The Arsht Center} When you live in Miami, the holidays don’t just happen organically. When it’s 90 degrees and 100 percent humidity and you still can’t wear jeans unless you’re blasting the AC, well, you have to work to make the holidays happen. You have to go that extra mile to feel holiday cheer. Little did I know six years ago when I took Milly to see her first-ever The Nutcracker at The Arsht Center, that we would be creating a tradition that was not only entertaining, it was the event that unearthed our holiday spirit. For six years we’ve been dressing up, heading to The Arsht Center and taking in two hours of Miami City Ballet‘s The Nutcracker—both of us dreaming of being the Sugar Plum Fairy herself. This year, however, we did things a little differently. This year, we skipped the…Read More

I Believe I Can Fly

{Adventure: The Flying Trapeze. Photographed by Jorge Camaraza} What did I do this weekend, you ask? I pretended to run away and join the circus at The Flying Trapeze. Jorge surprised me with the gift for our anniversary. And it was awesome. If you’ve ever dreamed of soaring in the sky while holding on to a bar, then letting go of that bar and trusting someone to catch your wrists and fling you though the air, then this is an adventure you need to add to your bucket list. So, what’s it like? Does it hurt? Is it scary? Well, you start by climbing a very tall ladder up to a narrow platform. All the while you are strapped in, so keep that in mind while you are looking down. Trust me, you’re safe. Wherever you go, someone is holding on to you via a rope. Once you reach the…Read More

My PCH Seekender Adventure: It’s My Way or Pacific Coast Highway

{Wearing: White Boho Dress c/o Kore. Leggings: LuluLemon. Motorcycle Boots: Steve Madden. Hat: Vintage. Photographed By Jorge Camaraza.} I sat up like a bolt of lightening, hurling the clean, white sheets off of us and onto the floor. Sheer excitement propelled me out of the comfy Hampton By Hilton bed and onto my feet. Today was it, the day. After arriving in Monterey, today, we’d wind up on the PCH. “Let’s do this, I thought,” as I climbed into my motorcycle boots, the only shoes I’d brought along for the journey. We satiated ourselves at the continental breakfast in the lobby, fueling up for the adventure ahead on homemade waffles and coffee in the brand’s kitschy mouth cups. Afterward, we loaded the saddlebags with our belongings. Come day’s end, we’d land in Pismo Beach, but the road from here to there was a full one, our first official day on the Pacific Coast…Read More

My PCH Seekender Adventure: The Road to Monterey

{Wearing: Motorcycle Jacket: Zara. Crochet Top: c/o Kore. Jeans: American Eagle Outfitters. Motorcycle Boots: Steve Madden. Sunnies: c/o T.J. Maxx. Photographed By Jorge Camaraza.} We sped off into the beautiful California day, leaving San Francisco behind, pressing onward to Monterey, the second stop on our Pacific Coast Highway adventure. Oh, Monterey. The things I had heard. The photos I had seen. None of them, however, would compare to what my own eyes would behold. The day was starting to cool down, the sun no longer directly above. The wind whipped at us, I zipped up my motorcycle jacket to keep her nip at bay. As we careened through the path, wildflowers surrounding us on either side, I spotted two doe running across the road. I felt like the intruder in their world, this place that was so crisp and pristine. God’s country, that’s where we had found ourselves. The sheer beauty,…Read More

0 Marks the Spot

{Wearing: Blush Romper. Necklace: Vintage. Wedges: Steve Madden. Photographed by Jorge Camaraza.} That’s me jumping on the bed, like I do anytime I check into a hotel. The chic teal robe? It belongs to The Marker Resort Key West, the stunning resort that took me in for a relaxing weekend excursion. I haven’t been to Key West in over a decade, so it was amazing to revisit a place I’ve always had a soft spot for. Only this go-round was different from past trips. Getting there happened via motorcycle. I’ve never done that before. I’ve never even ridden on a bike in Miami. To feel the warm air, as opposed to the mountain air I’ve gotten used to feeling, was spectacular, a change of pace. Riding over the 7 Mile Bridge, surrounded by water, sunset looming—postcard status. Wish you were here. We brought the bike to a halt as we neared…Read More

Doorstep Dining

{Lunch courtesy of Fresh is Better.} Hello, my name is Ginger and I do not cook. I do not want to cook. I do not have time to cook. I just want food to magically arrive when I’m hungry or need to feed the people around me. Guess what? That’s a thing! This past week the peeps behind Fresh is Better (FIB) delivered three days worth of meals to my doorstep each morning. All I had to do was go online, pick my food genre (traditional, paleo, vegetarian or gluten-free) and size preference and tada, daily meal delivery pre-dawn that consisted of breakfast, lunch, dinner and two snacks. No cooking, no dishes, no stress. Just three squares made from fresh ingredients. With portion control, fresh ingredients and now-ability (meaning I’m not shoveling cookies in my mouth while I wait for something to get delivered), I’m on the road to healthy eating for summer’s bikini…Read More

My PCH Seekender Adventure: I Left My Heart in San Francisco

As we boarded the plane, him leading the way down the aisle, I thought to myself: This is going to be an amazing trip, but there’s no way it will compare to Colorado—my last Hampton by Hilton Seekender adventure. Sure, we would be back on the bike, the wind in our hair, careening through landscapes foreign to our traditional Miami scenery. But Colorado was so magical. The mountains. The sky. The freedom. The rush. The beauty of it all. Zooming across the Pacific Coast Highway on an Indian motorcycle with my best friend and partner in crime with me every step of the way was definitely going to be amazing, but how could it possibly touch the majestic journey across Colorado that still lives and breathes inside of me? This will still be nice, I thought. Now, looking back, I can see just how truly foolish a thought that was….Read More

Let’s Yoge

I can only hope someday Milly will love yoga the same way I do. I can only hope that she, too, will find in yoga a place where she feels confident, beautiful, free. The only way to give that hope legs is to take her to yoga every chance she lets me. That’s what we’ll be doing together this Wednesday night, May 11, when we host Leggings Lounge at Anatomy’s rooftop. This time around the yoga class takes a mommy and me turn, so bring your little one if you have one, bring your mom or just bring yourself. We’ll get our om on from 6 to 8 p.m. with Nathalie Perdomo leading the way. Be sure to RSVP to LeggingsLounge.SplashThat.com. See you there. And namaste.
