Forget About “It”

Last week, my Instagram feed was overly alive with Fashion Week pics and vids. The shoes! The dresses! The bags! Yes, it was eye candy so delicious, I could actually taste the leather, but the reality is very few people can spend thousands of dollars on shoes and handbags—though I’m pretty sure more than half of us would like to—and then when we do we find ourselves feeling like a queen in our new piece and much like a pauper when the Amex bill comes. Instead, use the “it” bag to tell you what shade you should be toting, but venture out when it comes to shape, brand and style. This little black and white number from Brit-Stitch is a refreshing change of pace. And for around $150, it’s a steal. Did you know you can personalize the bags on the site? How’s that for making it your own? I went with a pre-designed black and white bag, because it captures my ongoing color obsession for spring. P.S. The black and white trend is never, ever, ever, going out of style. For spring 2014 it was on the runways of Rag & Bone, Ralph Lauren, Carolina Herrera and Narciso Rodriguez. Today, it’s on me, thanks to Shopblush.com.

As for what you’ll be carrying your all in this spring/summer, think individual rather than “it.” Get the deets on making your own bag at brit-stitch.com.
