April Beauty Board: Fragrance, Flowers and Face Facts

Since it’s the last day of April, I thought I should get my beauty board for the month out there. From fragrances to baubles, here are my faves that I discovered during this fourth month of the year. Expect to see more of them in the months to come.

A Stone and a Scent

This Eight & Bob fragrance arrived at my house in a hollowed out book, which instantly made me fall in love with it. Turns out, that’s where the original recipe for the cologne was hidden back when JFK fell in love with it. The history behind the scent is as intoxicating as its smell. Get the full scoop at Neiman Marcus. And yes, it’s a men’s fragrance, but I’ve been digging those lately over traditional perfumes, so I’m all about wearing this one and making it my own.

Because I’m channeling my inner boho this summer (hey, it’s already in the high 90s in Miami), I’ll be wearing this Arthur and Livingstone Colorado Pendant to add a little pop to my gauzy this and thats.

Girly Finds

Tuberose is my favorite scent. Mix it with peonies, grapefruit and neroli and summer is in the air. Tory Burch launches her first-ever fragrance with this Tory Burch Eau De Parfum Spray and I’m loving it.

I found this beautiful bracelet at Frangipani in Wynwood. It called to me from the jewelry case and insisted I take it home and it wear it the next night for drinks at The Broken Shaker. I’m not one to argue with accessories, so I did as I was commanded.

Products that multitask meansless things to weigh my purse down. Case in point: Baby Doll Kiss & Blush from Yves Saint Laurent in Fuchsia. It takes care of lips and cheeks in one fail safe swoop. Find it at Neiman Marcus.

I’m going to be 100 percent honest here: every manicure I’ve had in recent months has been pathetic. I need someone who is going to get every bit of cuticle and banish it. But since I can’t find someone who possesses that hidden talent, I’ve just been doing it myself with these Tweezerman Cuticle Nippers. Basically, when it comes to anything Tweezerman makes, buy it. It’s a brand that is the gold standard in grooming.

The Skin-ny

Summer in Miami is a cruel form of punishment for your skin. The constant battle between trying to wear makeup and not sweating it off takes a toll on your pores. Be kind to them with Pevonia’s Timeless Radiant Skin Toner. It feels refreshing and puts back what those 90-degree temps take out. Find it at LoxaBeauty.com, which is a great site that guarantees its products are authentic and not expired (unlike what you may find on Amazon).

Speaking of skin, sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen. And if you think I’m kidding book and appointment with your dermatologist. If you need one, holla. Dr. Donna Bilu Martin is amazing. In the meantime, don’t leave your house without covering up in Malin + Goetz SPF 30 Face Moisturizer.

After spending a weekend in the desert for Coachella, I’m feeling a little reptilian. Solution: Slathering myself in the creamest lotion I can find: Su-Kari Mano Coconut Body Butter. It’s paraben-free and smells like a delicious fruit salad served to you on the remote beach of a tropical island while the winds blow gently enough to waft the scent of paradise through the air. Yup. It’s that good.

Pretty is as Pretty Does

Metallic polish is one of those things I possess the magic ability to put on myself. For some reason, it’s just easier to apply. Venique Spike It stays put, too, because it has something called Sil-Tek in it that causes it to be flexible. It’s like the yoga chick of nail polish. Plus, if you buff it, diamond dust causes it to shine all over again. And it dries in four minutes. Yes, this might be love. The kind that lasts forever. Find it at LoxaBeauty.com.

For me, putting on liner is like trying to put a fish in a dress. Read: Not so great. The precision tip on Napoleon Perdis Matte Eye Ink, however, makes the whole process easier. And it’s safe to wear with my lash extensions. Hip hip hooray.

Living in Miami in summer is a lot like living inside of a hair dryer. Just going outside can be a root-raising experience. A pocket-sized argan oil to tame such unruly frizz is just what you need. But do such things exist? Yup, thanks to AG The Oil Extra Virgin Argan Miracle. Now put that in your purse and thank me later.

Early Mother’s Day gift idea and my new favorite thing in my makeup bag: Guerlain Le Rouge Lipstick in a personalized case. Mine arrived with my name engraved. Plus, it has a built in mirror. Lipstick + mirror + monogram = perfection. And the shade, Grenade, is naturally beautiful. Engraving at Neiman Marcus lasts now through May 7, so hurry.
