My PCH Seekender Adventure: It’s My Way or Pacific Coast Highway

{Wearing: White Boho Dress c/o Kore. Leggings: LuluLemon. Motorcycle Boots: Steve Madden. Hat: Vintage. Photographed By Jorge Camaraza.} I sat up like a bolt of lightening, hurling the clean, white sheets off of us and onto the floor. Sheer excitement propelled me out of the comfy Hampton By Hilton bed and onto my feet. Today was it, the day. After arriving in Monterey, today, we’d wind up on the PCH. “Let’s do this, I thought,” as I climbed into my motorcycle boots, the only shoes I’d brought along for the journey. We satiated ourselves at the continental breakfast in the lobby, fueling up for the adventure ahead on homemade waffles and coffee in the brand’s kitschy mouth cups. Afterward, we loaded the saddlebags with our belongings. Come day’s end, we’d land in Pismo Beach, but the road from here to there was a full one, our first official day on the Pacific Coast…Read More

Running Away and Joining the Circus, Er Cirkopolis

Last week I got the chance to see what happens backstage at Cirkopolis at the Arsht. And it was awesome. I have a huge appreciation for gymnasts. I was one for eons. The way they move their bodies is an art form. Being able to get up close and personal with the talent at the Eloize cast was, well, really, really cool. A lot of it took me back to my days as a cheerleader, watching them do basket tosses and tucks. And, to be quite honest, I wanted to jump right in. And I would have, too, given the chance. After checking out the backstage show, we (adults and kiddos, alike—because this is a family thing you can happily take everyone to) took our seats and enjoyed the show, which runs now through July 31, and watched as the set came to life and these amazing gymnasts twisted their…Read More

Meet the Team Who Gives Me #MySassoonStyle

{Hair by Sassoon in Miami Beach. This photograph by Jorge Camaraza.} That’s me up there, having a good hair day, thanks to the hair whisperers at Sassoon in Miami Beach. I’ve been a part of the long hair team for about two years now, and being a part of that tribe takes a lot maintenance. Nearly once a month, I slip into Sassoon for a hair transformation, to keep these long locks in line. I know that when I get there, Ronnie, my colorist will take whatever damage Miami has done to my hair (sun eating my color, chlorine fading my hue, age turning my brown locks grey) and reverse it. Once she gets her hands on my strands I know its only a matter of time before I’m a rich, deep, chocolate brunette. Afterward, she always treats me to a Kerastase mask that loads my hair with shine that goes the…Read More

That Time I Got to be a Bikini Model at Splashion 2016

{Wearing: Peony. Photographed by Thaddaeus McAdams/exclusiveaccess.net} {Wearing: Laundry by Shelli Segal. With: Ria Michelle, I’m Not Sorry Darling, Uncle Luke, Brickellista, Kelly Saks and (my lifelong swim week sista for more years than either of us can remember) The Wordy Girl. Photographed by Thaddaeus McAdams/exclusiveccess.net} Year after year, as July creeps into the middle of our summer, we make our way to the tents of swim week. We go to the rooftop parties. We snap pics of models in bikinis. We wish our legs were that long. We realize just how short our legs are. And we sweat—in hair, in makeup, in outfits we obsess over putting together, backstage, front of house, front row, on rooftops, at presentations, at breakfasts, waiting for Ubers. Swim week is one of my favorite weeks in Miami, but I’ve been going for so long (since its inception), I can’t even remember which year I’m on. While its fun, it…Read More
