Celebrate the Last Day of National Yoga Month Here

{Wearing: Brickel Leggings and 9th Street Bra Top: c/o YRSTRLY, a new workout brand that’s coming to Miami soon.} It’s the last day of the month and not just any month either. It’s the last day of National Yoga Month. And since yoga is such a huge part of my life (my happy place), I’ll be celebrating in various poses at a very special free yoga event. I invite you to get your om on tonight at the Shelborne at 7 p.m. for Leggings Lounge. Join me, a few of my favorite other bloggers and my favorite yoga teacher on earth for 60 minutes of stretching it out. See you there.

Get Your Motor Running … My Colorado Adventure Part 1

{Wearing: Campbell’s Soup Top: c/o T.J. Maxx. Plaid Top: c/o T.J. Maxx. Leggings: LuluLemon. Hat: Vintage. Photographed by Jorge Camaraza.} It started early on a Friday morning. Little did I know, as I was running through the Miami International Airport toward the gate, that I was about to embark on the adventure of a lifetime. Earlier in the summer I had said yes to being a Seekender for Hampton by Hilton, a program that would let me take a weekend anywhere one of its 2,000 hotels was located and make the most of it. I chose to go to Colorado. But I didn’t know—couldn’t know—what was in store. I was moments away from starting the kind of trip you can’t even begin to process until you’re coasting through a canyon at 80 miles an hour on the back of a vintage motorcycle, the wind whipping across your face, tangling…Read More

Tales from NYFW

{Wearing: Jumpsuit: c/o T.J. Maxx. Bag: c/o T.J. Maxx. Shoes: Gucci via Consign of the Times. Hat: c/o Kore. Photographed by Jorge Camaraza.} After a month of living out of suitcases for weekend jaunts here and there, I’ve finally settled back into life in Miami, which means it’s time to get my fingers back on the keyboard and tell the tales of my adventures. This year, New York Fashion Week called and I answered by hopping a plane and heading to one of my favorite cities. I knew this year was going to be different from years’ past. For starters, there was no central hub for the shows. Instead, they were at venues across the city, which meant darting here, there and everywhere. Also, I had a partner in crime for the trip, Jorge. I told him before going, “We’re going to play dress up for the week, so pack…Read More

It’s National Yoga Month, Let’s Yoge

{Wearing: c/o Peace Love World Peace Love Yoga Tank and Peace Love Happiness Love2Live Yoga Pant. Photographed by Jorge Camaraza}   I love September for a few reasons. Not only is it the month that not one, but four of my family members were born, it’s also National Yoga Month—which brings us to the focus of today’s post. Yoga is my happy place. It’s where I turn to when life treats me like a sock on spin cycle. I love to dip into a yoga class, turn off my phone and just breathe. If you love yoga, have ever tried yoga, want to try yoga or just have an inclination to see what yoga is all about, now is your chance. Please join me on Sunday, September 27, at 10 a.m. at Mondrian South Beach for a free yoga class lead by Green Monkey, all in honor…Read More

Hello, Fall

{Wearing: (On me:) Bikini: c/o Bianca Coletti Swim bikini. Necklace: Kore. (On Mills:) Bikini: c/o Bianca Coletti Swim. Necklace: Vintage. Headband: American Eagle. Photographed by me.} And there you have it, the first day of fall. How did Mills and I celebrate its arrival? In Bianca Coletti Swim bikinis. Mind you, it’s still in the high 80s with 1,000 percent humidity, but hey, that’s fall in Miami. Those of us who live here know autumn in this neck of the woods is a weird animal. The AC is still at all systems go, but the stores are fully stocked with boots and scarves that you can’t wear for risk of having a heat stroke. But the cravings, oh the cravings, to wear those fall fashions. So we do, in doses. Boots with shorts (and a layer of sweat). Leather skirts with crop tops (and a layer of sweat). Sweaters with…Read More

Safety First

{Wearing: On me: c/o Old Navy jeans, top and hat. On Mills: Old Navy everything.} This Saturday, I’m scooping up kid and heading over to Old Navy for Camp Old Navy’s Play it Safe event, where community heroes will share tips on how and why safety comes first. Mills and I actually hit up Old Navy yesterday to stock up on fall looks and shop the Kids & Baby Sale, which landed us amazing finds, like her patent leather slip ons for $6! And that’s where we heard about the cool event. Think the sale is just for kiddos? Nope, there’s plenty for the whole crew. I landed my awesome hat for just $15. So, if you need to keep the kids entertained and want to do a little fall and back-to-school shopping without breaking the bank, I suggest heading over today. The fact that kids get the 411 on…Read More

Shark Bait

{Wearing: Bikini: c/o Vix Paulahermanny Zaz Ripple Triangle Bikini and matching Tie-Side Bottom. Sunnies: c/o Marilyn Monroe Eyewear Elsie in Vintage Glitter. Photographed by Jorge Camaraza.} I love a Vix Paulahermanny bikini. There’s something about the cut that fits perfectly. Ever. Single. Time. Especially the bottom. And oh, if bikinis could talk, the story this one would tell. You see, I took it on my recent trip to Key Largo for Memorial Day weekend. It just so happens that day one of the trip included a snorkeling trip on a boat with one of the most beautiful reefs I’ve ever seen before in my life. OK, it’s actually the second only reef I’ve ever seen before in my life because that whole fear of the ocean thing (fish touching me, total fear of sharks, swimming in something that’s basically another planet) is real. I’d been snorkeling once before in Mexico…Read More

Back in Black (OK, Chocolate Brown)

Attempting to have hair in Miami in the summer months is, well, cue the Mission Impossible theme song. And I’m not just talking about humidity-ruined blowouts either. The overall texture of your hair—with weekend pool dips into chlorine-laden swimming holes, wind-whipping boat rides and tress-tangling convertible jaunts lead to lock demise. And let’s not even mention trying to maintain hair color in a city where the sun seeps into every conceivable crevice. As a brunette, summer leaves me red or faded brown with touches of grey. It’s not, I repeat NOT, pretty. And that’s why I headed to Sassoon for an end-of-summer touch up and repair. I opted for a dark chocolate brown to cover up what a summer’s worth of sun did to my mane. Upon visiting with my stylist, I got the deets on a masque that will lock moisture back into hair after a lingering summer. With…Read More
