And Scene: 15 Poses in 15 Days.

Well, I did it. Fifteen poses in 15 days. There was a lot that happened in those 15 days, too. I hosted an event, I covered a two-day event, I went to several concerts and I survived a five-day juice cleanse (more on that one tomorrow). Five backbends, eight balance poses and a whole lot of gratefuls later, it was a fun challenge and I’m down to do it again soon. I got a lot of ideas off Instagram and in looking at other poses, I realized there’s a lot I still can’t do, which gave me new goals to set for myself. For now the top of that list is this crazy backbend thing with straight legs on my elbows. Yeah, it sounds complicated … because it is. As soon as I tackle it though, I’ll snap and pic and post away, grateful for being able to hold it long…Read More

Let’s Talk Cost

The luxurious pricing policy … Life is expensive, a good Nashville advertising photographer is expensive and the Chanel Bag costs more and more every year. So what’s the deal with this phenomenon of prices growing for the luxury products? The dynamics of prices growing for luxury items are not always associated with recession in the economy, inflation or increased costs of production. The Wall Street Journal reports that the price of the Chanel quilted leather bag increased on average by 70% over the past five years, while the cost of the classical model bags from Louis Vuitton increased by 32% compared to the price in 2009. There are several theories to explain the general trend of rising prices across the industry of luxury goods, including watches and jewelry. Some argue that the high prices are due to the need to point out the high-quality of the brands that have now…Read More

It’s National Sunglasses Day

Happy National Sunglasses Day. If any city knows the importance of sunnies, it’s Miami. I scooped up these orange sunnies while I was in New York and brought them back to the Sunshine State to keep the rays out of our eyes. And speaking of orange, I just binged watched Orange is the New Black season 2. That last episode, wow, as in call me Piper, let’s chat. And now I need something new to binge on. I’m open to suggestions. Go!

Come lunch, I’m usually still in my morning workout gear having a type-a-thon on my laptop trying to get as much in before it’s time for pick-up. But on rare occasions, I escape my daily grind and pretend I live a life of leisure. For example, this past Saturday I brunched at Cecconi’s at Soho House (one of my favorite places on earth, btw) with French Connection and the Miami blogger crew. And what does one wear to said life of leisure? I decided to channel Audrey…Read More

Hello, Summer Solstice

{Tempo 2 Seamless Bra Top and Foil Chaturanga Capri Bottom: c/o Athleta. Pic by Erika Thomas.} The first day of summer in Miami usually gets lost in the shuffle, because it feels like it starts some three months back by the time it actually gets here. This year, however, Athleta made the summer solstice not only a memorable day, but a celebration. Hundreds of yogis—new and experienced—gathered at the 1111 Lincoln Road Parking Garage to share a practice on June 21, the first day of summer. And it was awesome. We started with a beautiful meditation, followed by a class by one of my favorite teachers Cat Haayen. Ironically, Cat and I were on the same page when it came to fashion the entire day. Not only did we both show up in the same pants, we both had the same dress, too. Great minds dress alike. It was a…Read More

Spa Me

{Dress: Shopblush.com. Necklace: Vintage. Bracelet: Touch Boutique. Bag: Vintage. Shoes: Steve Madden. Photographed by Maria Tettamani.} This is me joyfully escaping to Lapis at The Fontainebleau. Here’s why … Saturday morning, my house: 11:07 Kid is in the shower not washing her own hair because she wants me to do it for her. 11:14 I discover my Yorkshire Terrorists have thieved a bag of chocolate chips and eaten I don’t know how many. 11:16 I call the vet who tells me I have to give them hydrogen peroxide to get the poison out. 11:17 I am officially covered in hydrogen peroxide that the dogs want no part of drinking. 11:17 and 30 seconds: Kid is loudly inquiring why I still haven’t gotten her out the shower. 11:21 Dogs are now sick all over my rug from the hydrogen peroxide (which was the point), though the rug was not my preferred…Read More

Brilliant: The Coolest Concept in Workout Gear

I stopped into the brand new Athleta store on Lincoln Road the other day to pick up a few things to wear for the big Summer Solstice event on Saturday, with free yoga and grand opening celebration afterward at the store (deets here), where I’ll be around to help you put workout looks together. The store is awesome, there’s everything from workout gear to bikinis (that can also double as workout gear), as well as cute, comfy daywear options. And here’s the best part … If you buy it and you don’t love it, you can return it. Because how many sports bras have you bought that halfway through yoga wind up around your neck instead of, well, where they were supposed to stay put? So without tags, already worn—doesn’t matter. If it’s not working for you, simply return it. What a brilliant concept. Reds, blues, greens, whites—I had a…Read More
