High Five

{On Me: Dress: c/o United Colors of Benetton. Jacket: c/o United Colors of Benetton. Belt: Alexis. Shoes: c/o MIA Shoes. Necklace: Vintage. Sunnies: Target. On my 5-year-old Mexican jumping bean: Dress: Marshall’s. Shoes: Target. Sunnies: Target.} It’s official, as of today, I have a 5 year old. Yup, five years ago,  just four days after my 30th birthday, I got the best belated present ever: Milly. I still don’t know how she got to be as big as she is. But I do know I’m blessed to have her in my life. I hope this birthday is her best one yet. Happy birthday, kiddo.

Spring Chill

{Shirt: Nation Limited by Jen Menchaca from Guy and Girl. Pants: Harajuku Mini (from the kid’s department at Target). Scarf: c/o Skip N’ Whistle. Bag: Vintage. Shoes: Maiden Lane patent leather heels.} Fact: I don’t know what to wear anymore, thanks to this insane weather we’re having. One day its spring florals and sandals, with beach-filled weekends, and the next I’m all bundled up in my Skip ‘n Whistle masked maven scarf or using the dog as a heating pad come sundown. I’m hot, I’m cold. I’m hot, I’m cold. Whatever the case, I do know my obsession with sequins this week is more reliable than spring’s seasonal temps. Thank god for constants.

Sequins, Florals, Leather, Beads: Spring Accessory Report

I recently popped in at Hoss Intropia at Bloomingdale’s in Aventura Mall to check out the spring collection. While I love the brand (my oxblood leather dress is one of my favorite pieces in my closet), I wasn’t aware the brand had so much to offer when it came to accessories: Beaded, sequin, leather, suede. Here’s a few of my favorite finds: {Ornate headband for a fem touch.} {Florals go sequin in an unexpected twist where the flower is the neural and the top pops.} {A good neutral heel.} {Sequin clutch in aqua and grey—the new muted palette.} {Texture, texture, texture: woven clutches with a glitter ballet flat.} {Basic beads become a dynamic necklace when outfitted with leather and this bold blue hue.} {Dainty dresses with chunky baubles.}

Happy Birthday to Me

{Dress: Betsy Moss c/o Betsy Moss. Necklace: Swarovski Snake Necklace c/o Swarovski. Shoes: Steve Madden.} I’ve always treated my birthday like a get-dressed-up-and-celebrate-not-just-the-day-but-the-entire-week-leading-up-to-the-big-day occasion. I’ve never been the type to shun birthdays or lie about my age. Why? Because the older I get, the more life I’ve lived and the more experiences I’ve had. Adding more years to your life isn’t something to regret. It’s something to celebrate. So, throw a candle into a piece of cake, light it and wait for me to make a wish. My 35th is going to be my best one yet. Photographed by David Marc Harris.

Look at the Brain on Shahs of Sunset’s Lilly Ghalichi

The overabundance of hair, boobs and lashes. A dog that only walks in circles. A Birkin in a dirty Mexican nightclub. Three solid reasons why Shahs of Sunset and, more specifically, Lilly Ghalichi is a guilty pleasure. But in addition to her glam squad and Barbie-esque proportions, she has brains, too. A savvy business woman, the well-coiffed reality star will be in town tomorrow for a trunk show at Alene Too for her swimwear line, Have Faith Swimgerie, and her lash line, Lilly Lashes. I leapt at the chance to get the scoop on this fellow fashion blogger and her time on TV.  What’s your favorite suit from the line?  It’s called Sailor Barbie, and I wore it on the yacht on Shahs. It’s our modern twist to the retro high-waist bikini. To make it younger, we cut the butt really sexy. It’s not a thong, and it’s not a Brazilian. We like…Read More

Black and White, the Sequel

{Dress: Monteau. Necklace and bracelet: Fly Boutique vintage. Shoes: Loehmann’s.} Prediction: There’s a 99.9 percent chance before spring/summer is over that my entire wardrobe will consist of the spring black and white trend. I call this one my Wynwood Building dress. The first time I wore it was for the Today show segment. I was totally all stressed out about what I was going to wear at 5 a.m. to go and get my hair and makeup done. In reality, I could have showed up in PJ bottoms and one of those free tees you get when you participate in a community car wash and no one would have cared. Oh well. Since I have no intention of slowing down when it comes to shopping this trend, here’s what will most likely be my next BnW purchase: (just as soon as I start printing my own money). But seriously, I will be on the lookout…Read More

Marie Claire’s What I Love About Me

{Hey, that’s me, giving my mom a big ups for passing down her amazing lashes. Thanks, mama!} Saturday morning, I raced out of bed to go to Walgreens and scoop up a copy of Marie Claire‘s April issue so I could flip it open to page 150, where Miami gets some love. A couple of months back I smiled at the mag’s cameraman on Lincoln Road. Afterward, they sent questions asking me what products I use, beauty trends I’m into and what feature I most like about myself. As I realized Saturday morning, that last question became the foundation for the story. And I’m glad it did. It reminded me of something I read a few months back that I think is really important to share. So here goes: I was on Facebook one night trolling along, when I landed on an article about a mom who makes an effort to…Read More

{Junk Food Clothing native diamonds tee. Target skirt. Gap denim jacket. Bracelet de Fil beaded bracelets. Vintage bag and shoes.} Music makes the people come together. Especially this weekend, when not only South By Southwest (as I mentioned here) is in session, but Miami gets its own dose of rhythm with Ultra. You’ve probably already seen the Ultra kids rolling (that’s me being funny) around town in tutus or neon this, that and the other. I’m all about costumes, but I won’t exactly take that route. I will, however, don a comfy tee for the electronic experience. Of which my anticipated lineup of mostly indie tendencies includes: Crystal Castles, tonight at 10 p.m., March 24 at 10 p.m. Hot Chip, Saturday at 8:20 p.m., March 23 at 11 p.m. Thievery Corporation, Saturday at 5:30 p.m., March 23 at 5:20 p.m. Matt & Kim, Saturday at 5:10 p.m., March 22 at…Read More

{California Waves Polka Dot Bikini Bottom and Hula Honey Halter Bikini Top c/o from the womens swimwear selection. Carter & Co First Mate beach bag c/o Carter & Co. Kaanas espadrilles c/o Kaanas. Fly Boutique vintage silver bangle. Touch Boutique turquoise bangle. Kiddo in Hello Kitty tankini. Target glasses. Havaianas flip-flops.}  I like long walks on the beach, sunsets and … just kidding. I do like a good beach stroll, though. And after this weird winter-ish blast—which magically disappears mid-afternoon and then returns at night—I’m happy to be back on the beach with kiddo in tow. But as much as I love the beach, that’s how much I hate the ocean. For some reason, my family let me watch a Jaws marathon once when we were on vacation in Destin, Florida (that’s lower Alabama for those of you who haven’t ventured there). There I sat, watching the great white rip innocent swimmers limb…Read More
