Bling in the New Year

Heed this advice: If you want to stand out on NYE, do not wear a sequin dress. It’s about as original as wrapping paper on Christmas. If you’ve already purchased one, save it for next week. Unexpected glam is such a better statement than run-of-the-mill predictability. Wondering what to ring the new year in with instead? Bling. Stand out from the crowd and work your shimmer in (because glitz on NYE is a must) with an accessory. I found more than a few a few weeks ago at the grand reopening of Swarovski on Lincoln Road. Check it out.  PS the redo is stunning, like a big, beautiful jewel box. {Ever the lover of Hello Kitty. This clutch is, well, clutch.} {Big, bold and beautiful. Love the detail on this bracelet.} {Now this will turn any LBD into something stunning.} {Even kiddo got in on the action with this bauble…Read More

Four Finds: What to Spend Your Christmas Money On

I love having an uncommon name, but it’s hard to find monogrammed stuff with the letter “G” on it. Thankfully, you can order your initial, no matter how unique, from Delicate Raymond, like this Vintage Monogram Necklace and it’s little friend, the Mini Initial Necklace on a beaded chain. I like to wear both at the same time. After all, my mom does call me Gg. Find both at Love these yummy soaps from They are vegetable-based and come in scents like citrus and lavender. You can also find the brand in Miami at 1110 Brickell Ave, ste. 806. By far my favorite color of the season: oxblood, seen here in this cool bracelet from Style Ctzn. And last but not least, for my northern friends, check out the Twitten. It’s a mitten for hand-holding, so your fingers won’t get cold while you’re with the one you love. Plus,…Read More

Going Bold

It’s that time of year for wrap-up lists, so prepare to be inundated with everything from the top songs of 2012 to the best informercial products of the past 365 (hello, WaxVac—I kid, I kid.) The top fashion trend coming out of Miami this past winter, according to TJ Maxx and Marshalls: Wearing bold colors, like teal and oxblood. And not only is it our favorite trend, we also love wearing these statement shades on dates. I opted for this lime green sweater (one of my personal favorite brights this season) for a night out with hubby. And because bold colors go a long way, I paired mine with basic black to let the hue shine. The best part of this cardi: It’s linen, so it’s perfect for Miami winters. Wondering what else Miami gals are sporting this season? TJ Maxx/ Marshalls says when it comes to work, we prefer…Read More

I Survived the After Christmas Sale at Saks

This is me, standing in line at Saks in Bal Harbour 45 minutes before the doors open, waiting, while visions of Choos dance in my head. Choos at 50 percent off, nonetheless. The doors were to open at 8, but they actually opened at 7:45 and people, I kid you not, ran, screaming into the store. Toward shoes! Chanel and Louboutin at 30 percent off. Brian Atwood, YSL and Choos at 50 percent off. The shoes flew off the racks. I grabbed a few pairs here and there, slid them on, didn’t fall in love and decided to take in the chaos instead. Forget beautiful displays. The place was trashed, like when your parents leave you home alone for the first time and your group of three friends turns into 300. And everyone takes off their well-designed shoes and throws them wherever they land. Trashed, I tell you. Within moments,…Read More

Merry Christmas

Gifts come in all shapes and sizes. My best one ever, courtesy of the hubby, however, is about 40 pounds, more than half my height and a non-stop talker. (I wonder where she gets that last one from?) Today, as we count our blessings, I’ll be sure to say an extra big thanks for my little one. Here we are hamming it up in party dresses on our way to see The Nutcracker, our annual holiday tradition. Though, while we are there, we both dream of wearing tutus. Like mother, like daughter. {Vintage Mavens dress c/o Vintage Mavens. Vintage Lillie Rubin jacket. Wolford tights. BCBG Generation booties. Kiddo in Gap top, tutu and shoes. H&M tights. Goodie headband.} {Phairytale necklace. CND Shellac polish in Sugared Spice. FYI, this is day 15 of my mani/pedi. A big thanks to Elemis Spa at The Loews for nails that’s lasted me through half…Read More

My 26 Acts of Kindness

Believe it or not, sometimes I’m thankful for my bouts on insomnia, like last night. Unable to sleep, I decided to scroll through my Instagram feed, and that’s when I saw someone had tipped a waiter/waitress the same amount their dinner cost. At the bottom of the check it read: #26ActsofKindness. So, I looked it up and found this notion of doing 26 random acts of kindness to remember the 26 lives lost at Newtown. The idea started with Ann Curry, when she sent a tweet out into the twitter-verse. From buying groceries for strangers and handing out candy canes and lottery tickets to buying coffee for the next 26 people behind them in line, people everywhere are becoming part of the movement. I was so touched by the whole thing, I started to think, “What can I do?” And then it hit me: I’ll take 26 of my handmade…Read More

The Rainbow Connection

Living with a 4-year-old, my entire life is rainbows. They live on my frige, on the doodle apps on my phone and on any piece of scrap paper in my house. So, when I came home from Lacoste on Lincoln Road with this ombre dress, kiddo freaked out and dubbed it my rainbow dress. When I think of rainbows, the first thing that comes to mind is Kermit singing “Rainbow Connection.” The song is on the latest Muppet soundtrack, of which I downloaded to appease said 4-year-old (and OK, who am I kidding, myself, too). Warning: integrating this CD into your life with cause you to randomly sing “Man or Muppet” in the middle of everywhere, which, in turn, causes people to look at you, well, oddly. Hubby busted out into “Life is a Happy Song” in an elevator at Target the other day in one of those awkward elevator…Read More

My Untold Basel Adventure

{Me at the Moncler party.} I realize Art Basel has come and gone. Gone for some time now. But I’ve been swamped with holiday deadlines, a hubby in the middle of law school finals, getting kiddo here, there and everywhere, putting holiday presents in the mail … I know, I know. Bad blogger, no shoes for me. So, here in my glorious down time, I’m going to get it all out. My favorite night of Basel. The names of the innocent have not been changed. In fact, it’s hubby’s childhood friend Lanny, who resides in New York. Hubby was unable to fulfill plus-one obligations, as he was taking exams, some of which lasted eight hours. I admire that man. And so the story begins: After getting rejected at the Terrywood party at The Standard (neither of us are that cool), we started off at The Gale for the StyleCaster party….Read More
