Rockin' the Color Jeans

Red jeans by Mossimo. Vintage cami, Eugenia Kim for Target hat, Fifi and Elvis shooties, vintage Carlos Falchi leopard purse, vintage cuff. I’m a solids or ’70s big, overdone prints kind of girl. Ninety-eight percent of my closet is black. And I’m more of the classic than trendy variety. So, when the colored denim trend came out, I rolled my eyes. Colored denim? Really, is it 1987 again? Vomit. What’s next, crop tops? Yup. That’s what I thought. I ignored it for a long, long time. So, I was literally shocked out of my own shoes when I was strangely attracted to the colored denim rack at Target. But, with a trend on sale for $19.99, even if I only wore it once and hated every second of it, it was no biggie. So, I did it. I bought a pair of magenta-colored skinny jeans. I threw them on, rolled…Read More

Attention Yogis: I've Got Your Friday Night Plans

Me, the poser. It’s no secret I love yoga. If I had three extra hours in each day, at least 1.5 of them would be spent doing yoga. And one of the reasons I love yoga so much is my awesome friend and teacher Amy Litt Rabin. Not only are her Amyshtanga (that’s Amy and ashtanga) classes the best workout ever, she’s got this awesome knack for making music mixes with mad flow. But don’t take my word for it. Come out tonight to The Standard’s H2-Om series and Bend It Like Rabin. Amy will be playing movie soundtracks for your listening and sweating pleasure. The party gets started tonight at 8 p.m. Class is $30. Stick around after for spa time and bring your bathing suit.

It's True Fashion Bloggers Do Do It Better

Me (in my Target jeans—post on that coming up soon) and The Wordy Girl, ya know, doin’ it better. The rumors are true, fashion bloggers do it better. Last night at Ricochet in Midtown Miami was proof. Fashion Bloggers The Fashion Poet and The Goodwill Project teamed up for a shopping, sipping soiree that send me home with more than a few excellent goodies. Get ‘yer Turbands here. My first stop and complete motivation for coming to the event: Gold Saturn’s Turbands. I scored two, which I full intend to wear as often as I breathe. I opted for black with red polka dots and a snakeskin print. How cute is this? Over at the Gold Saturn table, I found my most favorite little designer on the planet: David Job Acosta, who was dressed to the nines. Check out his shoes and non-matching sock action. Love. Tinte! (This photo is,…Read More

My Afternoon with Yigal Azrouel

Me with Yigal Azrouel, who is wearing his own jacket and an American Apparel tee. Yesterday, Israeli-born designer Yigal Azrouel showed off his spring/summer collection at Saks at Bal Harbour Shops. I got the opportunity to chat up Azrouel about his namesake line, as well as Cut25, his ready to wear collection. A little FYI: Cut25 is named such because cut is a word Azrouel frequently uses, and 25 is the day he was born (in August), as well as the mark of the letter Y in the alphabet. He’s hoped the line would obtain its own identity, instead of just being dubbed a less expensive collection, which is why he didn’t put his name on it directly. Who do you design for? I always think about a woman with confidence. She’s fashion forward, confident, effortless. She thinks less is more. What’s your favorite piece from each collection? When I…Read More

Today: Meet Yigal Azrouel

Meet and greet alert. Yigal Azrouel makes a sexy dress. This I know. I fell in love with his designs when I came across a slinky black gown with plunging neckline and ever more daring back. Today, March 28, I get the chance to chat up the designer at Saks Bal Harbour Shops from 2 to 4 p.m. I’ll be live tweeting from the event, alongside The Wordy Girl, The Fashion Poet and Kelly’s Kloset. Follow me @gingdawn and look for the hashtag #yigalsaksbalharbour. Or, drop by and say hi. Food, drinks and fashion will be served. RSVP to 305.865.1100 x5292. Yigal Azrouel s/s 2012.

Fashion Bloggers Take Over Soho House

That’s me! Miami’s fashion blogger pool. I’m all the way down at the end, second to last. Last night I holed up with Miami’s top fashion bloggers to give a little chit chat about what it is we do. Buddy Maria Arguello (@mari7305) MCed the event, like a champ, while we weighed in on how we got started, why we do what we do, what format we prefer and where we shop. I also confessed I stalk Ria Michelle via Twitter. And now that I’ve met KarGar, who is a hoot, I’ll just go ahead and admit that she’ll also be added to people I fashion stalk. Kudos to the audience who offered up some great questions. Here’s what I took away from the experience: Electric Blogarella is a work in progress, and I promise great things to come. Tucker! Speaking of great things, the Tucker sale at Soho House…Read More

Because I Adore Bethenny Frankel

Skinnygirl Face & Body beauty products. The first time I ever watched Bethenny Frankel on TV was on her show Bethenny Getting Married. She was on a vacay and the episode was just so funny with some random lizard coming into her hotel room and leaving her a present. She was just crazy enough to seem normal. I immediately got sucked in. Since then, I’ve been a fan of the reality TV star. I think she’s smart, funny and entertaining as all hell. And she’s a savvy business woman, too. She’s someone who has propelled her TV fame into a real career. That may just be the new American dream. Keeping her savvy business ventures rolling, Frankel launched a beauty line that bares the same name as her libations. Skinnygirl Face & Body is hosting a Tweeterparty tonight filled with makeup tips, beauty advice from Bethenny herself, and you can…Read More

What to Wear and Do on Your Birthday

Vintage wrap, Ritchie Swimwear bikini, Eugenia Kim for Target hat, Lola James bracelets, total knockoff sunnies. Yesterday was my big day, my birthday. I don’t know about you, but I’m not the kind of person who lets my birthday come and go lightly. I celebrate it for not just one day, not just two, but seven whole days of birthday bliss. And the weekend leading up to my big day is always a grande affair. Each year my bday happens during Winter Music Conference, which makes it seem like all of Miami is celebrating my bday (at least that’s what I tell myself). This year, rather than getting sucked into the electronic music scene (which this year included Madonna’s inappropriate Molly comment), I kicked off birthday weekend of fun in the sand with some of my best friends. A good time was had by all, including the sun, who tanned…Read More
